Creative refresh and testing, how many ads and when to swap.

Start with a handful per campaign, give the system its learning days and swap an ad when the platform shows it tiring. The numbers differ by platform. TikTok's 2026 playbook recommends a minimum of 3 to 8 creatives at $100 to $1,000 a day depending on the goal, X suggests at least 3 to 5 per app campaign refreshed at least every two weeks, and Meta flags fatigue when the cost per result reaches twice your past ads.

What tired looks like on Meta.

Meta calls it fatigue only when the numbers say so. It counts every recent showing of the ad's image or video, other campaigns from your Page included, and sets your cost per result against ads you ran before. Above them but under twice as much, the Delivery column says Creative limited. Twice as much or more, Creative fatigue.

The status is only for ad sets with one creative, and not for catalog ads, dynamic creative or Advantage+ app campaigns. Meta pairs it with a recommendation. A new ad with an image or video that is materially different, a wider audience, or Advantage+ creative.

How many creatives should I start with?

That changes with the platform and the goal. TikTok's 2026 playbook puts the minimum between 3 and 8 at $100 to $1,000 a day, X says at least 3 to 5 per app campaign, and Google wants 2 responsive search ads rated Good or Excellent in each ad group.

Should I pause the tired ad?

Not always. When you add a new ad, Meta notes that keeping the original one active instead of pausing it may maximise results.

When is it too early to judge a new ad?

X gives its systems 3 to 5 days and asks for no changes in that time. Snapchat says it takes at least five days to see what's working.

Do you make the new variants?

Yes, with you. We start from the ad that did the work, hold on to its hook and cut what comes next for each platform you run. What's included for your accounts, ask in chat.

Creatives, in the panel.

In the panel, Creatives gives each ad a fatigue score and starts the next variants from the one that carried you. The Adtucon Platform is in early access with a first group of clients. It opens to every client, with every platform, in early 2027.

Testing costs the account too.

More ads mean more reviews. On Meta a new creative, new targeting or a new optimisation on a running ad sends it back into review, and a burst of new ads is also a burst of chances to be rejected. How to test without putting the account at risk is in scaling without getting banned.
